An In-Home Newborn Session with Meredith & Nate in Luray, VA

There’s something about those early newborn days that feels sacred—slow mornings, quiet snuggles, and the kind of stillness that only happens when a new little life enters the world. That’s exactly what it felt like when I pulled up to Meredith and Nate’s home just outside of Luray.

Like most newborns, he wasn’t exactly thrilled about having his photo taken at first. A few fussy moments, a lot of snuggles—but that’s all part of it. These sessions are never about perfection. They’re about pausing long enough to let the real moments unfold. And sure enough, once mama got him settled, he melted right into her arms and became the perfect little model.

The nursery was cozy and thoughtful—earthy tones, handmade touches, and a real sense of intention behind every detail. I love capturing those little pieces of a home, the ones that hold quiet meaning and become part of the story over time.

Some of my favorite images were taken in the in-between moments—Meredith swaying in the hallway, Nate adjusting a swaddle, the two of them just sitting together in the stillness of it all. We ended the session on the front porch with the Blue Ridge in the background, wrapped in mist like a soft exhale. It felt like the perfect closing note to a quiet, meaningful morning.
